Congratulations to our P.7 Girls who won the County Girls Schools 5 a side competition at Devenish College recently. The girls progressed through their group of 6 winning all their games against Holy Trinity, Integrated, Model, Irvinestown and Jones Memorial Primary Schools to reach the semis against their nearest neighbours Maguiresbridge PS. After a very even semi final a wonder goal from Freya, volley to the roof of the net won the game. The girls met Lisbellaw P.S in the final, Lisbellaw got an early goal and with 1 minute to go looked as if they would hold out to win. However, with great work in defence by Orlaith, Eimile got the ball in defence and carried it up the line to provide a great ball into Meabh in the middle who remained calm to slot it home. The game was going to penalties. After a tense affair and 10 penalties, St. Mary's won at the sudden death stage. Special mention to Matilda who was excellent in goals, scoring a penalty and saving lots too. Well done to all the girls who participated, including Bailey, Aoife, Maria and Melissa Rose. C'mon St. Mary's!
